A few months ago, I ordered a temporary rain fender for the back wheel of my bike from a Swedish company, the rain fender was satisfactory and has kept me drier than I was in the often punishing Mancunian rain, but, the thing that I really cherished from that package was a postage stamp featuring the work of photographer Annika Von Hausswolff. Here in Britain we’ll be lucky if we get a collectable pack of stamps with the Queen’s face in different colours so to receive such a wonderful piece of art was such an unexpected delight that I couldn’t help but look up the artist and request more work from her. Annika’s work has a magical silence to it that I feel is rarely seen in photographer’s work and seems to really glorify her subjects solitude and also tenderness be it a person or an inanimate object, from both, you get the sense that they are embracing their aloneness, satisfied, with just being.
Have a moment alone with Annika’s work today.
